Justice Malala is an award-winning journalist, television host, political commentator, and newspaper columnist who writes regular weekly columns for the Financial Mail and TimesLIVE. He is the author of the number one best-selling We Have Now Begun Our Descent, and his newest book is The Plot to Save South Africa: The Week Mandela Averted Civil War and Forged a New Nation. He is a political consultant to Lefika Securities and a regular contributor to The Guardian. His work has been published in The Washington Post, Financial Times, Wall Street Journal, Times of London, and many others.
Malala was formerly presenter and executive producer of the longest running weekly political talk show in South Africa, The Justice Factor on eNCA. He presented The Last Word, a daily late night special election show on eNCA in 2021. The Financial Mail rated him among South Africa’s top five political and economic analysts of 2016–2018. He was awarded the Foreign Correspondents Association Award for Courageous Journalism in 1997 and served as a judge for the Taco Kuiper Awards for Investigative Journalism for ten years. Malala was publisher of the iconic Sowetan and Sunday World newspapers.
