Yiannis Karousos is the Mayor of Ayia Napa in Cyprus a Chartered Marketer, a title he gained through the UK’s Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM). In 2006 at the age of 27, he was elected as a city councilor in Ayia Napa, Cyprus’s largest tourist resort, and was appointed as president of the Municipal Tourism Committee and also the Youth Committee. Karousos was elected as Mayor of the City at the age of 33, becoming the youngest mayor in Cyprus at the time. Karousos graduated from the University of Surrey in the UK with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in International Hospitality and Tourism Management and holds a joint MBA from ESSEC Business School in France and Cornell University in the US.
