Professor Yossi Harpaz is a Sociology lecturer at Tel-Aviv University. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University in 2016. His current research project explores the global implications of the legitimization of dual citizenship. The project combines statistical data with interviews to comparatively examine the motives and strategies of individuals seeking dual citizenship in three settings: Israelis who reacquire European citizenship from countries like Germany and Poland; Serbians who obtain Hungarian citizenship; and Mexicans who practice ‘birth tourism’ in the US. His work has been published in the International Migration Review and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies.
