Yossi Harpaz

Yossi Harpaz is a Lecturer in Sociology at Tel-Aviv University. He earned his Ph.D. in Sociology from Princeton University in 2016. His current research project explores the global implications of the legitimization of dual citizenship. The project combines statistical data with interviews and fieldwork in order to comparatively examine the motives and strategies of individuals who seek dual citizenship in three settings: Israelis who reacquire citizenship from European origin countries like Germany and Poland; Serbians who obtain Hungarian citizenship; and Mexicans who practice “birth tourism” in the United States. Yossi’s broader research interests include globalization, the state, ethnicity and international migration. His work was published in International Migration Review, Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies and other venues.
