Important factors to consider in residence planning
George Friedman’s The Next 100 Years predicts the major geopolitical events and trends of the 21st century, as well as speculating on changes in technology and culture that may take place over this period of time.
Friedman, who is the founder of Stratfor, a private intelligence corporation, predicts that the US will remain the dominant global superpower throughout the 21st century, with other world powers constantly attempting to challenge it. He makes some more controversial predictions; the most notable perhaps being that Mexico will challenge the US.
He writes, “As long as Europe cannot speak with one voice on foreign policy it is hard to see how it can influence geopolitics.”
On China, Friedman adds, “China is an incredibly poor country with a small segment that is essentially an extension of the US. This shows the vulnerability of the country. All of the prosperity of China is built on the willingness of the US and Europe to buy its products.”
While Friedman recognizes that the details of his predictions may vary, he believes they are relevant if he is able to identify “what really matters”.
This explosive new book mainly focuses on geopolitics and wars, but also considers economic, social and technological developments.
