London - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has launched an emergency appeal in response to the growing humanitarian crisis currently unfolding in Europe. As a proud partner of UNHCR, Henley & Partners is fully supporting the UNHCR fundraising appeal to address the needs of these people.
Over 400,000 persons have crossed Mediterranean in 2015 alone; the majority are refugees fleeing from conflict, violence and persecution; at least half of these are from Syria and 15% are children. Almost 3,000 persons lost their lives so far in attempts to reach Europe and the promise of safety from persecution.
Christian H. Kalin, Chairman of Henley & Partners, comments, “As the global leader in residence and citizenship planning, we are at the nexus of a worldwide network which provides immense help to UNHCR in gathering very necessary resources to assist this situation. I am certain that, like us, our clients, families and partners will gladly extend support knowing that their contributions are going to the very heart of the problem, and via the agency uniquely mandated to support this crisis. The Henley & Partners - UNHCR GalaDinner, planned for 5 November 2015 in Dubai to support the refugee cause, is one way in which they can help.”
Paola De Leo, Head of UNHCR Global Private Philanthropy adds, “As we continue to witness an unfolding tragedy spread across Europe, we are now at a critical juncture, not only in humanitarian terms but also in global support terms. UNHCR is leading efforts to provide life-saving support to refugees including shelter, food, water and medical care. We are also on the ground providing assistance and protection to refugees in the countries where they are fleeing and transiting along their journey.”
“We appeal to you to join us take an active stance in contributing to UNHCR to help make a difference to many of these lives,” concludes Kalin.
Aimed at supporting the refugee cause, the annual Henley & Partners – UNHCR Gala Dinner is one of many Henley & Partners fundraising initiatives. The dinner will be hosted in Dubai on 5 November 2015 following the 9th Global Residence and Citizenship Conference, the world’s leading event of its kind. Donations to the value of at least USD 1,500 per person will secure a seat, while USD 15,000 procures a table. An auction organized by Christie’s will help raise additional funds.
