Nick Whitten manages the daily operations of the JLL Residential and Living Research Team, which covers the residential, student accommodation, and later living sectors in the UK. Nick’s team engages directly with the government to provide policy advice, and with JLL’s clients to provide transactional support and strategic consultancy. The team also provides briefing papers and thought leadership for the UK market that supports the wider private sale of residential, affordable housing, build-to-rent, student accommodation and later living advisory and agency businesses at JLL.
After earning his honors in philosophy at the University of Sheffield, Nick spent 13 years working as a journalist. He spent seven of these in the property industry and became the business editor for Construction News. In 2014 he joined JLL from property journal Estates Gazette, where he had developed a well-known industry profile as a news editor. Nick’s experience spans advisory services for both public and private sector clients on residential development and investment opportunities.
Nick acts as a JLL spokesperson for a wide range of housing market issues and is regularly cited in national and international media. He is a regular speaker at property industry conferences and serves as chair of the JLL EMEA Research Technology Hub, which explores how technology is changing real estate. Nick is also a member of the Society of Property Researchers (SPR).
