Yossi Harpaz is an Associate Professor of Sociology at Tel Aviv University, earning his PhD in Sociology from Princeton University. His current research project explores the global implications of the legitimization of dual citizenship, combining combines statistical data with interviews to comparatively examine the motives and strategies of individuals seeking dual citizenship: Israelis who reacquire European citizenship from Germany and Poland, Serbians who obtain Hungarian citizenship, and Mexicans who practice ‘birth tourism’ in the USA. His work has been published in the International Migration Review and the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies.
